Public Officials from Tri-State Area Come Together at Polyengineering

            Dothan, AL (January 21, 2002) - Polyengineering, Inc., Dothan’s largest engineering firm hosted over 200 guests in celebration of the company’s 43rd Year Anniversary on Thursday, January 17, 2002.  Polyengineering coupled the anniversary party with an open house reception to showcase the 3,016 square foot addition to the existing 8,043 square foot office at 1935 Headland Avenue in Dothan which houses over 50 full-time employees.  A Southern Bar-B-Que luncheon was served as guests dined under an outdoor tent erected in the Polyengineering parking lot.

             The event had a regional draw hosting local city officials from Dothan, Enterprise, Ozark, Abbeville, Daleville, Midland City, Pinckard, and Headland.  Numerous county officials were in attendance representing Houston, Henry, and Geneva Counties.  Out-of-town officials from Niceville, FL, Okaloosa County, FL and Clay County, GA traveled to Dothan to be a part of the festivities.  Also present were representatives from the Alabama Department of Transportation, Wallace College, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, USDA Rural Development and the Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow River Watershed Management Authority.    Other engineering design associates and contributors traveled from as far away as Birmingham, AL and Pensacola, FL to celebrate the occasion.

            President Max Mobley welcomed guests with a brief history of the company heralding the tremendous growth they have experienced since the company’s founding in 1959.  Mr. Mobley paid a warm tribute to Sam Marley, former President and CEO, who hand picked all of the current owners of the company.   In response to his tribute Mr. Marley said, “I get emotional when I see the team I put together running the show.”

            Speaker Marian Loftin, Executive Director of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce called Polyengineering, “a hidden jewel in our community” sharing that it’s not well known that Polyengineering provides engineering services throughout the United States.  She attributes the success of the company to the diversity of services provided by the multi-disciplined staff.   Matt Parker, President of the Dothan Chamber also spoke of his personal accounts working with Polyengineering stating that, “the growth of Polyengineering contributes to economic development and quality of life in the Dothan area.”

Polyengineering, Inc. has been continuously engaged in the practice of professional engineering since its founding in 1959 by a small group of engineers in Mobile, Alabama.  The company began with a staff of six (6) providing services primarily for municipal clients.

In 1965, Sam B. Marley opened a branch office in Dothan, Alabama.  That office consisted of a single engineer, a secretary, a draftsman, and two (2) engineering technicians.  Over the past 37 years, the firm has grown tremendously becoming independent of the Mobile firm in 1979.  The initial staff of six (6) has expanded to more than 60 multi-disciplined professional engineers, architects, designers, environmental scientists, drafters, technical assistants, and support staff in the main Dothan office.  They also have (7) employees consisting of engineers, inspectors and clerical personnel in the Fort Walton Beach, Florida branch office, which was established in 1970.
